Clint Eastwood :”I’m not a fan of Obama”

(credit CBS NEWS)
Clint Eastwood appears during an interview with CBS News anchor Katie Couric, Oct. 13, 2010

A personal legend and icon to the author, Clint Eastwood speaks his mind about President Obama too. Eastwood to me is the civilian version of Gen.Anthony”Nuts” McAuliffe who famously responded to the Germans “Nuts” when they demanded his surrender at Bastogne during the 1944 Battle of the Bulge. When Eastwood spoke of Spike Lee “A guy like him should shut his face.” He was referring to Spike Lee’s criticism of his Film “Flags of Our Fathers,” which chronicled the men who raised the flag on Iwo Jima for not having any African American Actors. Eastwood acknowledges there was a detachment of African American soldiers on Iwo Jima during the battle, but they were not the ones who raised the flag, and to add them to the tale would be historically inaccurate. He stated the movie is called “Flags of our Fathers”, because it tells of the famous raising the flag and the men who raised it.

Clint Eastwood entered my life via the movies as he did most people. I remember watching Dirty Harry as a kid. I probably was breaking the rules by watching it because i was to young, similar to the way Dirty Harry broke the rules and tested authority and always got his man. His famous quote :

I know what you’re thinking: “Did he fire six shots, or only five?” Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I’ve kinda lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you’ve got to ask yourself one question: “Do I feel lucky?” Well do ya, punk?

has stuck with every man who has ever watched the film. In real life, Clint Eastwood is just as bold and memorable. Clint clinched hero status for me when i read his interview with Esquire in 2008. He made the point most men will agree with, well men who read Men’s Daily Forum anyways. Clint stated :

“We live in more of a pussy generation now,” Clint Eastwood tells Esquire upon the release of his new film Gran Torino. “Everybody’s become used to saying, ‘Well, how do we handle it psychologically?’ ” Eastwood, who grew up having to duke it out with bullies, looks back to a more stoic time: “My father had a couple of kids at the beginning of the Depression. There was not much employment. Not much welfare. People barely got by. People were tougher then.”
In those days, you just punched the bully back and duked it out. Even if the guy was older and could push you around, at least you were respected for fighting back, and you’d be left alone from then on.”
“I don’t know if I can tell you exactly when the pussy generation started. Maybe when people started asking about the meaning of life.”
But stoicism didn’t mean a lack of sentiment, Clint adds. “Look how fast—seven years—people have been able to forget 9/11. Maybe you remember if you lost a relative or a loved one. But the public can get pretty blasé about stuff like that. Nobody got blasé about Pearl Harbor.”

This quote is a concentrated capsule of a Hero Supplement every American should take. Us men of current or past service to the nation know this already, but we could always benefit to take one capsule orally after dinner ( with grace ) with our other vitamins. The rest of the nation should take one daily as a suppository learn something from this icon.

Keep on keeping on Clint!!

(The article has been revised. The author made a absolutely horrible mistake of crediting Lt. Gen. Harry W.O.Kinnard.Although Lt.Gen Kinnard was there he did not say those famous word “Nuts”. The author having recent read an article about Gen.Kinnard made the Terrible terrible mistake of crediting him.)

Where Men Find Glory

December 15, 2010 by
Where Men Find Glory

(illustration: Adam Little)
Question: Where do men find glory?
Answer: Wherever they can.

Every man on every level is on a mission for glory. No matter how minuscule the mission, the end game is always the same. The mission’s begin as children clamoring for parental attention. As man-child matures his quest for parental adoration metamorphosis’s into communal adoration; Ad infinitum. The glory mission can manifest in whatever god given skills a man processes, scholastic, physical, bravery and good old fashioned dumb luck. The answer to the question, “wherever they can” will never change. Men by nature are competitive creatures who will always adapt improvise and overcome any situation to obtain glory. That is how the entire experiment of the United States of America came to be and it is why we are free to seek glory.

In the Unites States today, there is a coalition of masked assassins tying to alter the course of free man. This coalition is in every realm of growth and industry of man. Their aim is to dull the blade of man’s spirit and intensify his taming. They throw road blocks in front of dam near every glory mission a man seeks. They hide behind their masks of “safety first, mercy rules and rules of engagement”, coy concerns hell-bent on extinguishing the flames of the glory bound. They seek to even the playing field on every field. They seek to make the great super power the great equal power. They are progressives, pencil necked theologians of the church of “we know better then thou”.

In the world of sports, where men regularly seek glory the assassins operate night and day to even the field. In little league, trophies are no longer given to the winners. Trophies are given to everyone for participating. Dominating the opponent is no longer cheered; instead it is frowned upon (mercy rules). For the young sportsman who processes god given talent and a work ethic to train and improve his game will be marginalized. His opposing teammates who spent their same training time playing video games and eating an unhealthy diet will be given equal accolades. Glory is replaced by the malaise of marginalization.

In the NFL, new rules have been put into place to ban “helmet to helmet“ hits. So these mutants of the gridiron who have worked their fingers to the nub to reach the NFL are not allowed to play the game as it was intended. “Remember; Safety first”. The National Football players make millions of dollars and get tons of accolades and press (Their Glory). The fans, who buy their licensed merchandise and tickets to the games, will now be watching a lesser game. With out the fear of getting their giant mutant heads and limbs severed, the game will be completely different. I am not advocating the NFL be a blood sport, nor do I wish to see men get their heads or limbs severed.

The NFL has been around for 90 years and safety has improved a billion times since leather helmets were worn. The NFL is a choice. This profession is reachable by approximately 0.008% of collegiate athletes. This path to glory has consequences, and it’s my firm believe they should remain. For “no guts, no glory” has a place in our society. I , for example would never in a million years step on to the gridiron. And i; will never know the glory a brave mutant of girth and mirth will obtain there.

Men often seek glory on the battlefield. Glory assassins are continually operating there too. When we send our military out to the battlefield, we expect them to use the same rules as our little leaguers. The ROE (rules of engagement) are so burdensome and complex and change so often, the soldier often does nothing for fear of punishment. Here is an excerpt from the Washington Examiner I found fitting:

Regarding the ROE, soldiers complained that even when fired upon, often they are not at liberty to return fire.
“If they use rockets to hit the we can’t shoot back because they were within 500 meters of the village. If they shoot at us and drop their weapon in the process we can’t shoot back,” Spc. Charles Brooks, 26, a U.S. Army medic with 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, told the paper.
Talks with the Taliban elicited even angrier tones from troops.
“If we walk away, cut a deal with the Taliban, desert the people who needed us most, then this war was pointless,” Pvt. Jeffrey Ward, with 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, who is stationed at Forward Operating Base Bullard in southern Afghanistan, told the Examiner.

It is my understanding that military’s fundament purpose is to break stuff and kill people. The same assassins who handicap mans quest for glories are putting our troops at risk. The forced metamorphosis from warrior to human piñata is a dangerous undertaking. The risk is not only for the current troops in country, but for retention and future enlistments. Why would a man on a quest for glory join force of piñatas?

In the classroom glory has been tainted as well. When it comes to grading papers, the dreaded red ink the author was used to seeing has now been replaced by blue or purple. Apparently a bunch of smart people who research this kind of thing have found that it’s deconstructive to let kids be wrong. Who am I to say? I was a metal shop major and with a minor in women’s studies (my own curriculum). I always remember the one smart kid in my classes who never saw red. The look on his face was priceless glory when he received his papers back. I on the other hand got so used to seeing red I stopped caring and sought my glory elsewhere. The smart kid, yeah he is a doctor now. I, well lets just say chose a different path. I will always remember seeing red though, and learned how to adapt, improvise and overcome on a different field. I was never fooled into believing I was scholastically equal to the now doctor classmate. And he was never fooled into believing he was equal to me on my field.

Glory is reserved no for no one and everyone. Glory is there for the taking. Glory is whatever you dream it can be, and you can reach it in one way or another. Glory is a fundamental desire to do good and should be left alone. Glory should not be hindered in the classroom, the battlefield or the playing field. Red ink should be used, helmet to helmet hits should not be banned and the rules of engagement should be an easy to read guide in keeping the reputation of the US military beyond reproach.

Genitalia molestation at airport or how we define the party lines

(Photo Foxnews.com)
Drama at airport security check points comes to our living rooms via the television. Molested travelers are on every news channel telling their horrible stories of having their “junk” handled before they got on the plane. One lady, a cancer survivor, had to remove her artificial breast to get through security. A woman with two artificial knees had to have her genitalia and brestages poked before she could embark. Another lady had to endure an upskirt vajayjay poke. In Indianapolis a mentally derange man punched a TSA agent. Pilots are suing and resigning rather then having they hang downs examined and poked.

Now this is all fine and dandy to debate. What is interesting though, is how the issue is divided between Democrats and the rest of America. If you recall, when the DHS was being created, the Democrats were holding up the necessary legislation to ensure TSA agents had collective bargaining rights. This was about two months after the devastating attacks of Sept 11th, 2001. The unified country, hell bent on recovering from the worst atwtack on the homeland ever, was being held up on collective bargaining rights. Also interesting is, how the Democrats are defending these sexual harassment claims at the hands of TSA agents as if those making the claims were suggesting democratic leaders were doing the groping themselves. The point is, why defend tooth and nail something you were not actually present to witness. Instead of defending how about an investigation? How about we are looking into this? Some airports are actually in the motion of removing TSA from their gates, and replacing them with private security companies. Could the divide on this issue be more closely tied to fear of the TSA being ostracized from every airport in America? What would that do to the unemployment numbers?

What do you guys think?

Where if not country music?

Where if not country music?

Photo Fox News
I got to thinking about this on an hour ride home last night. My wife and baby were on the road ahead of me somewhere. I was all alone for the first time in what seems like 6 months, and I was listening to the radio. As I was flipping through the stations the question occurred to me, Where if not country music.

There is a country song for every single situation you may find yourself in through out the course of your life. If you’re in a phase, which we all are, there is a song about it. Songs about love, relationships, failure, success, family, being a kid, being a parent, divorce etc etc etc. The underlining tone is always doing the right thing. Where else do Americans hear these themes?

Being born in the mid 70’s, I grew up listening to the residual classic rock tracks. My only recollection of country music was 1985’s Farm Aid concert. I was born and raised in a big city, and country was not popular. I got my first taste of country music while in boot camp, when we unraveled an American Flag to Lee Greenwood’s Proud to be an American.

As I flipped through the stations, I noticed a serious contrast. The country station had a song on by George Strait called Love Without End, Amen.(Brought a tear to my eye) The other stations were playing modern pop icons singing about being drunk in the club and waking up in Vegas. I heard one singing praising the bulbous endowment of a girl’s rear.

Who am I to judge, but the question remains? Where if not country music? If a person Is not going to church every Sunday, and reading the good book daily, where are they getting it? I put the television on the other day and there was a reality show on called 16 and pregnant. I about threw up in my mouth. Turned the Tube off and went back to reading.
